Description:
Ride our horse/pony or
yours! We prioritize safety (helmets provided or bring your own) and the importance of
horsemanship. Depending on the individual’s focus and attention span we include
topics such as: catching the ponies, grooming, tacking & untacking, safe leading
& tying techniques, mounting- from a block, from the ground and emergency
dismounting, veterinary care, trim/shoeing information, stable management
skills, trailer loading experience, and so on. We try to keep the lessons varied
and encourage students to ride English, Western or both in enclosed
arenas (starting in 60’ round pens), over poles, on our “beginner trails” (with
an instructor), playing an array of games that help improve balance,
coordination and confidence in the student and much more! WE NOW OFFER A
LESSON/PRACTICE PROGRAM! see below.

Good students out for a special
trail ride |
Who: This
is a great way to introduce children 11 and under to horses! Our ponies are
small so we cater to children under 65lbs. We provide helmet, tack and the pony
- you bring the enthusiastic student!
Adult
Beginners Too!
Pony Pals now offers beginner lessons to adults and youth over 65 lbs. on our
horses. (Confident students and those with their own horses may qualify to
ride with Sam. )
Program
Choices:
Option 1-
Single lessons for one hour $45 on
our horse/pony or yours. Family rate for 2 lessons at the same time $80; share a
lesson with a friend $80.
Option 2- Qualified students may ride a pre-scheduled hour each day
on our horse/pony in the arena area or on our trails up to 4 mornings a week
(M-F) in addition to one weekly lesson. Each non-lesson ride is $15. Ride 5
times in a week including your lesson for $100 and save $5!
What
You'll Need:
We have helmets available
in a variety of sizes but find that most students prefer to purchase their own
for $35-50+. Leather footwear that covers the ankle and has a heel such as any
English or Western boot works well. Jeans can be comfortable while riding
Western but English riders prefer the seam placement in britches (jodphurs for
children). We can offer you many on-line, catalog and store options for your
purchases. Some people prefer to ride with riding gloves but they are totally
optional. Bug spray of your choice may come in handy. TEC shirts and caps
always available too!
