Behind the scenes:
Alternative Horsemanship &
The Equestrian Center

 Alternative Horsemanship & Samantha Harvey

Sam is whom you’ll have most of your lessons and full training programs with.  During her initial training she spent years on the road competing throughout the USA in Three Day Eventing, Jumpers & Dressage with a Pony Club background (member, instructor, Joint DC and Youth Congress Alumni.) During her classical training she also apprenticed with a focus on young horse race prep for the racetrack.

After working under several Olympic veterans in Europe, her equine interests expanded into a diverse range of disciplines including cutting, reined cow horse, endurance, competitive trail horse and of course, what is now considered natural horsemanship.

These days Sam is no longer focused on competing, and with the limited free time she has, she tends to pursue expanding her experiences while participating on traditional working cattle ranches across the west, some of which have been in existence since the turn of the 20th century.

After deciding to settle in Sandpoint (for the summer months) Sam decided to focus on creating a center that encouraged riders of all disciplines and experience levels to have access to an affordable facility- and The Equestrian Center, LLC, was opened in the fall of 2003.

Sam enjoys the various challenges and stimulation of riding, training & teaching a multitude of students with varying experience levels and  goals for both pleasure and competitive riders.  She offers her knowledge and experience to those who are enthusiastic learners. Feel free to give her a call to set up an appointment to see how she can best help you and your horse!
