TEC Working Student Opportunity

Idaho only - April through October

Positions available:

Short Term: 2 weeks                   Long Term: 3weeks- 2 months
Students will work five days a week; pay room & board fee $350/wk.  One workday = one lesson (riding or ground work) on either your own horse or one of TEC’s.

One work day = 6 hours of work 8am-2:30pm
One work day = one 1 hour private (riding or ground work) lesson

Purpose:
A full immersion opportunity for students who are looking for various experiences regarding all aspects of horsemanship and riding.  Must be both reliable and responsible with a self motivated positive attitude to help with daily/weekly chores,  unforeseen situations and horse related activities in exchange for unlimited training and learning opportunities.

Our facility is NOT a social center, so if you're looking for that "busy barn" feel , TEC is not the appropriate place for you.  Rather we have clients and horses that travel to work with us from all over the U.S. to utilize our individualized training style and programs and appreciate the supportive, nonjudgmental, low key atmosphere.

TEC’s Goal:
The ultimate goal for us is to find that the student’s effort, labor and time is beneficial to TEC without having their presence be a cause for extra concern or stress because of having to “baby-sit” their actions or decisions.

WE WORK WITH YOUNG & “PROBLEM” HORSES THAT CAN BE UNRELIABLE AND DANGEROUS.  WE NEED STUDENTS TO MAINTAIN AN AWARENESS, RESPECT AND 110% POSITIVE WORK ETHIC AND ATTITUDE WHEN PARTICIPATING IN OUR PROGRAM.

Candidate Requirements:

 *        Must have valid driver's license - if not, must work the same day as a person who holds one (in the case of an emergency.)
*        Appropriate attire for working with horses.
 *        NO SMOKING ON
TEC PREMISES.
 *        Three years riding & handling horses.  Must submit a current video of ground work & riding. [We sometimes do have the opportunity for novice horsemen to participate in our program.  Please inquire as to what our current schedule allows for.]
 *        Great attitude and open mind for learning.

Duties on a daily, weekly or monthly basis may include but are not limited to:

 *

Tack Cleaning

 *

Catching/bathing/grooming horses

 *

 *

THIS WILL NOT BE A SLAVE LABOR SITUATION - THERE IS NO STALL CLEANING OR NORMAL “BARN” OR HEAVY LABOR REQUIREMENTS

Trailer/ Tractor Driving

Riding in the mountains- some overnight pack trips
More- DOE

If this sounds like an opportunity you would be interested in please print and fill out the Working Student Application Form and e-mail it.

IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS PLEASE EMAIL OR CALL 866-904-0111 BEFORE YOU SUBMIT YOUR APPLICATION- UNCOMPLETED FORMS WILL BE PUT ON THE BOTTOM OF THE STACK.

Because there are a limited amount of positions do not be discouraged if you are not accepted.  All forms will be put on file for next year- and there are always situations where accepted candidates wind up not being able to make the commitment due to unforeseen circumstances and so we go to the next appropriate person available.  Thank you for your time and effort and good luck!
