Having worked for 30 years as an equine professional, I specialize in helping horses and riders overcome challenges. My work focuses on building confidence and trust between horses and humans by translating misunderstood equine behavior into a common language. Over the years, I began to specialize in rehabilitating and re-educating the rejected, problem, difficult, or dangerous horses, all misunderstood by humans, and reflecting holes in their education.
Learning to take the time it takes to meet the troubled horse in the moment is a humbling experience that affects one's perspective and approach to multiple facets throughout life. Realizing one must adapt their mindset, emotionally self-regulate, and acknowledge non-verbal communication are both life skills, and necessary to work with wild or young horses. Along the journey of helping the horse, one can develop empathy and adaptability relevant to team-building skills.
I have had the privilege to teach equine enthusiasts around the globe, focusing on many horse-related issues that often mirror the equine enthusiast's mindset and emotions. My approach not only addresses the horse's needs but also fosters personal growth for riders of all levels. I have worked with folks experiencing PTSD, physical limitations, emotional challenges, at-risk youth, and struggling with severe fear issues. I also educate returning riders, internationally competitive students, and pleasure riders.
Horses have intrigued people for thousands of years. There is a universal reverence for them as they have influenced man's history. As I would explain my work to fellow travelers, equine enthusiasts, and non-horse folks, I was told for decades that my motivational teaching style and story-telling approach were inspiring, and for many, life-changing.
I had already experienced teaching at horse expos and doing live demonstrations when I was invited by a dear friend to speak at her corporate retreat, despite it being a non-horse-related event. Based on the overwhelmingly positive feedback of that speaking opportunity, nine years later, motivational speaking allows me to continue to share my passion and knowledge while inspiring others to develop a deeper sense of self while seeing the value in connecting with others.
